Rav Herschel Shachter Speaks to Camp Sports
On Friday, July 22nd, the NCSYers at Camp Sports had the unique privaledge and opportunity to hear from world renowned posek and Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University, Rav Hershel Schachter. Rav Schachter spoke to the boys about how, despite the passing of over 3,000 years, our Torah, is eternal and never changes. Is it Kosher and Fowl Play
This week in Camp Sports we had the time to see up close and personal the laws of Kashrus and understanding what birds are Kosher and what aren't. To begin the program, each team had to construct something made only out of a few straws, and a few pieces of masking tape, which would hold a raw egg and protect it from breaking after being dropped from the top of a van. How is it possible for teenagers to relate to the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash that happend so long ago? On Tuesday, we celebrated the 17th Day of Tamuz, which is the beginning of the mourning period of the Three weeks, which culminate with Tisha B'Av. Baltimore Orioles Game, Inner Harbor and BBQ!
On Sunday, after a morning filled with learning Camp Sports head out to watch the Baltimore Orioles take on the Cleveland Indians. The game was filled with excitement as Camp Sports had a game within the game, with a chance to win great prizes! Each camper recieved a sheet of paper with the name of one of the players on it, and the camper earned runs for every action that the player did. Shabbos of Greatness: Get Up and Dance!
For the second Shabbos in Camp Sports, we had the privaledge of having with us and hearing from many guest speakers throughout the weekend. Aside from the Normal incredible and excited singing and dancing during our Friday Night Davening, which rocked the walls of Ner Israel's campus, before Maariv NCSYers had the chance to hear from Rabbi Kurland, from Sh'or Yoshuv Yeshivah in Far Rockaway, NY. Hershey Park!!
Every fall straight down over 100 Feet going almost 60 MPH? Then you have never experienced Fahrenheit, the Ride at Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. Along with ten other rocking roller coasters, sports competitions, and of course the world famous tour of the Hershey Factory, Camp Sports NCSY'ers hit them all with a whole day and night in the park! Seeing The Sights- Washington, DC
On Monday, July 11th, Camp Sports made its way to Washington, DC in the afternoon. Campers had the opportunity to walk around the nation's capital. Campers were dropped off in front of the National Air and Space Museum located on Independence Ave. NCSY'ers had the chance to see actual aircrafts from NASA, enjoy the exhibits and the Air Conditioning! NCSY'ers were also given the opportunity to spend time at the Holocaust Museum, which was the first time for many of hte NCSY'ers who went. Saturday Night Bowling and Pizza
It's 11PM on a Saturday night, when most of the world is heading to sleep, Camp Sports is heading BOWLING!! With all the bowling you can handle, Campers and Advisors head out to the local AMF Lanes for some awesome bowling until 1AM.
Sleep? What's that? After getting back to Camp, everyone headed back to the Dining room for a Pizza Melave Malka!

There will be a truck meeting the bus in New Jersey to take any luggage that did not fit under the bus in Cedarhurst and the luggage of those NCSYers taking the bus from New Jersey.
